Tenorio Rainforest Hiking Trip
Tenorio is located along the continental divide and our closest location to visit the tropical rainforest. Our rainforest experience will start with a guided walk through a private reserve where we will learn about its orchids, stingless bees, ornamental and medicinal plants, local culture, tree frogs, poison dart frogs, snakes and hopefully spot some of the very common sloths that inhabit the area.
From here we will go to a second location where we will first have a traditional costarican “Casado” lunch, which is comprised of rice & beans (alternatively mashed potatoes & veggies), salad, vegetable stew and a variety of protein choices (chicken, beef, tilapia or pork chop).
After lunch we will walk through one of area’s the most beautiful and protected patches of virgin rainforest, with chances of spotting the local willdife like toucans, currasows, guans, agoutis, lizards, frogs, snakes, whitenosed coatis and occasionally even the rare tapir.
During the hike we will cross a series of incredible hanging bridges that will take us up (130ft!) into the treetops where most of the rainforest’s life happens.
This trip is one of our favorites and a great introduction to the world’s richest ecosystem! FULLDAY Trip suitable for all ages.
