- We pick up from various hotels, residences, and private homes. After you’re picked up from your hotel, we’ll stop for breakfast or coffee. Then, depending on where you are picked up, the journey will be one or two hours to the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park, where the hike begins in the Pailas Sector.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park extends 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) northeast of Liberia in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The park stretches 141 square kilometers (54 square miles) in the Cordillera de Guanacaste mountain range and is easily accessible from the city and other Costa Rican regions. Hike in Rincon de la Vieja National Park
Throughout the hike, your guide ( a native of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano), will assist you in spotting a variety of wildlife, including turkeys, coatis, toucans, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, and much more. You’ll pause to see the bubbling mud pots, fumaroles, and small crater caused by volcanic activity.
Oropendola Waterfall
After the hike, you will stroll a short distance off the beaten path to reach to the Oropendola Waterfall, which is located outside the park and has a blue lagoon where you can swim.
Buffet Lunch
After your swim in magical Oropendola Waterfall, you’ll be driven back to enjoy a hearty, full buffet lunch. You will have access to many options including dietary restrictions like vegan, gluten-free, etc. The buffet includes a salad bar, a dessert bar, a variety of entrees and sides, fresh juice, coffee, and tea.
Hot Springs
You can also participate in our volcanic mud “bath,” which involves applying volcanic clay mud to your entire body like a spa “masque” and then washing it off with a cool river water shower once it has dried. You’ll feel amazing after dipping into the hot springs water!
