Overview

For the more experienced riders, explore the full 20+ km of single track trail at Las Catalinas.  You will be decked out with a helmet and a hard tail mountain bike, from our high end inventory and show you some of the most majestic views from single track coastal trails in all of Costa Rica.  This ride lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

Tour Description

Costa Rica is the perfect place for mountain bike rentals and tours.  With a very favourable climate and an average temperature between 21 – 27 degrees Celsius (70-81 Fahrenheit), the temperature is usually ‘just right’ to hit the trails. The country also has many micro-climates, depending on where you are. The north Pacific coast is typically hot and dry and there is an 80% average chance the sun will be shining on any given day throughout the entire year. The interior and higher elevations can receive cooler weather and more rainfall. The best time to visit is usually from November to April.

The Trails

Las Catalinas is situated in the Pacific north coast of the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, and is renowned for maintaining over 30 km of world-class coastal single-track mountain bike trails with scenic ocean views that will astound you.

These trails have been under construction since 2010 and each year the trail system expands and matures.  The trails are an average of 3-4 feet wide and are built to largely comply with IMBA trail design standards.

The trails are varied and appeal to all levels of mountain biking experience with fast downhills, challenging uphill’s, and long stretches of beautiful, flat single track.

The Terrain of your Mountain Bike Tour

The terrain and vistas change dramatically and over the course of a 1.5 hour ride you will have dramatic ocean vistas, tropical forest shade, overgrown valleys, and some heart thumping climbs! These trails are immaculately maintained by a full time trail crew who rake and maintain the trails on a daily basis.

Mountain Bike Rentals and Gear

You will be set up on your preferred ride and given a safety helmet. Then we will hand you a map of the mountain bike trails, and set you off on your mountain bike tour adventure. If you prefer riding with clipless shoes, you can bring your pedals and shoes with you when you visit us and we’ll throw your pedals on the bike of your choice at no extra charge.

In addition to the trails built and maintained on Las Catalinas, the surrounding areas are home to varied ride loops that can be tailored to your experience.

Our January 12 to the 22 stay was our second trip to Villa la Sata. We didn’t think it could get any better but this was a very special time in this extremely special place. For all our experiences here in Guanacaste this Estate cannot be matched. The village of Flamingo provides varied opportunities for dining and entertainment. Whether at Angelina’s, Coco Loco or La Forketta the food was amazing. The in home chef Jean Luc was the BEST! The beauty of the white sand beach of Flamingo is unparalleled. The staff at Villa la Sata was extremely accommodating. There was no better way to escape the cold of Montana. We will return yet again, Michael Snow

It would be tougher to spend a week in Costa Rica in a nicer home than Villa La Sata. Not only is it centrally located to the “hopping” area of the Pacific Coast side of Costa Rica, it is positioned on the property and Bay perfectly. A view of over 180 degrees of the ocean is breathtaking. The home is beautiful, updated and unquestionably a once-in-a-lifetime vacation home. This will go down as the nicest home we have ever spent time in, on vacation.

We stayed at Villa La Sata, in Costa Rica for a few days in February. It is a very special place which is beautifully appointed with detail after detail. I can’t imagine a better location in the world to soak up the sun on its terraces, perched on a cliff overlooking a mile or so of wonderful beach. We had magnificent sunsets every night that were among the best I have ever seen. My wife was in heaven as she cannot miss a sunset.

Staying at Villa La Sata was an amazing experience! The views were immaculate and the villa was very impressive… I loved waking up to the sound and site of the beach each morning. The fact that you can see the water as the front gate opens and from every room is why I would consider this the Gem of Flamingo. I’ve never experienced anything like the sunsets here as well. As a videographer and photographer it was more than just a paradise it was Heaven.
