The tropical Monteverde Cloud Forest of Costa Rica is one of the richest ecosystems in the world and only occurs on higher altitudes along the continental divide.

Tour Description

On this trip we will be immersed in the virgin forests of Monteverde and enjoying some of the most adventurous activities in Costa Rica.

First, we’ll do the extreme zip­line adventure along 13 cables, 17 platforms and beautiful trails in between sections. These really long, fast and exciting cables are guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping. The longest is about 1 kilometer long, at speeds of 50­-60mph! In addition, and if you feel brave enough, you’ll have the option to do the thrilling Tarzan swing — arguably, the closest experience to bungee jumping. Ziplining hours are 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 pm.

The Treetop Walkway is a 1.9-mile trail through the cloud forest combining forest trails interconnected with 8 bridges ranging from 170 feet up to an amazing 560 feet in length. These stunning bridges are not only a leisurely experience, but they also create immense enjoyment and excitement for adventurers of all ages and physical conditions, who can wander through and over the cloud forest at their own pace.

During your walk, explore the forest canopy, wildlife and nature, reach out and touch the sky and feel an incredible sense of freedom.  The suspension bridges offer the best angle to observe the beauty of the cloud forest at all its levels and heighten possibilities to spot endemic and iconic species that call the forest home.

The butterfly garden is one of the largest and most beautiful gardens in the Americas is home to more than 30 species of Costa Rican butterflies of all altitudes and climates.  Wander through this spacious dome-shaped structure that ensures the perfect amount of sunlight and shelter from the wind to watch these delicate animals flutter through their habitat. Specialized guides will entertain you during a tour through the flower-filled gardens with lots of information and fun facts about the magnificent butterflies, their incredible life cycle and much more. 

This is an opportunity to absorb the butterfly effect and the peace that is felt while observing them feeding, resting or in flight.

Our January 12 to the 22 stay was our second trip to Villa la Sata. We didn’t think it could get any better but this was a very special time in this extremely special place. For all our experiences here in Guanacaste this Estate cannot be matched. The village of Flamingo provides varied opportunities for dining and entertainment. Whether at Angelina’s, Coco Loco or La Forketta the food was amazing. The in home chef Jean Luc was the BEST! The beauty of the white sand beach of Flamingo is unparalleled. The staff at Villa la Sata was extremely accommodating. There was no better way to escape the cold of Montana. We will return yet again, Michael Snow

It would be tougher to spend a week in Costa Rica in a nicer home than Villa La Sata. Not only is it centrally located to the “hopping” area of the Pacific Coast side of Costa Rica, it is positioned on the property and Bay perfectly. A view of over 180 degrees of the ocean is breathtaking. The home is beautiful, updated and unquestionably a once-in-a-lifetime vacation home. This will go down as the nicest home we have ever spent time in, on vacation.

We stayed at Villa La Sata, in Costa Rica for a few days in February. It is a very special place which is beautifully appointed with detail after detail. I can’t imagine a better location in the world to soak up the sun on its terraces, perched on a cliff overlooking a mile or so of wonderful beach. We had magnificent sunsets every night that were among the best I have ever seen. My wife was in heaven as she cannot miss a sunset.

Staying at Villa La Sata was an amazing experience! The views were immaculate and the villa was very impressive… I loved waking up to the sound and site of the beach each morning. The fact that you can see the water as the front gate opens and from every room is why I would consider this the Gem of Flamingo. I’ve never experienced anything like the sunsets here as well. As a videographer and photographer it was more than just a paradise it was Heaven.
