Oceanica 822 in Flamingo is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo overlooking a spectacular beach. It’s on the ground floor of one of Flamingo’s tallest buildings, with a hillside perch that gives it a fabulous ocean view.
The open-concept main room leads from the kitchen to the dining area to the living room to the glass doors opening on the balcony — meaning the ocean view is always in sight.
The fully equipped kitchen has an island with granite counters, sink and breakfast bar that allows you to prep food while looking out on the ocean. Next to that is a wooden dining table and chairs, followed by a living room with plush furniture, TV, air conditioning and ceiling fan.
One unique feature of Oceanica 822: The coffee table and end table in the living room, as well as the headboard in the master bedroom, were made by sawing slices out of tree trunks, preserving their natural shape.
The living room is decorated by huge photographs of tranquil seascapes with boats. And one unexpected touch is the Moorish-style arched doorway that leads from the front door to the main room.
The balcony is furnished with a round glass table and chairs, and the expansive view takes in Brasilito Bay and Flamingo Beach, all the way to a peninsula in the distance that looks like a crouching crocodile.
One bedroom features a roomy bed and sliding glass doors that open on a terrace, plus a walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom. The other bedroom has another queen bed.
If you ever get tired of hanging out here, just head down to the swimming pool to work on your tan, surrounded by palm trees and flowering plants. While you’re at it, ask your spouse to cook some meat on the grill.
This unit is in the middle of everything, a short (but steep) walk from downtown Flamingo, where there are restaurants, bars and shops. You can walk to two beaches — Playa Potrero, where a world-class marina just opened, and Playa Flamingo, a crescent-shaped beauty with plenty of shade.
Be sure to book one or three adventure tours while you’re here — there’s ziplining, horseback riding, mountain biking, ATV rentals, fishing, scuba diving, sunset cruises, and wildlife rescue centers with jaguars, monkeys and sloths.
There’s only one thing you’re not going to like about Oceanica 822 in Flamingo, and that’s the day you’ll have to leave.
Your rental will be stocked with a welcome basket of coffee, coffee filters, salt, pepper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, paper towels, cooking oil and Costa Rica’s famous Salsa Lizano.
